ABOUT

Nadia Kazmi is a Canadian singer/songwriter who makes her home in Brooklyn, NY.  Her artistic leanings and influences are an amalgamation of poetry, vintage rock n’ roll, soul, the pop she grew up listening to and her exposure to the Brooklyn, NY, music scene. She has been making music for more than a decade and has released 3 LPs and 2 EPs worldwide. Her music has been used in television shows such as Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Dance Moms and Being Russell Simmons and she has toured North America and Europe. Her next full length LP drops 2023.

Nadia believes the best artists and songwriters defy categorization. Unwilling to be boxed in, she looks to the artists that color outside the lines and genres such as Kate Bush, Bowie, Nick Cave and St. Vincent. The only defining characteristic in her music is her voice, both metaphorically and literally. In the past, Nadia has leaned towards analog sounds with guitar, bass and drums. Her new release expands her guitar riffs towards a more electronic soundscape. Her latest endeavor, Manufactured Dream, a full length LP to be released in 2023, is a foray into the dreamy wild imaginings from which she culls her melodies and lyrical concepts. There is a theme of movement that runs like a thread through the album as a whole but also within each song, individually. This forward momentum, a progression that does not ebb, carries you to another world: part pop confection, part self-expression and social commentary and part rock n’ roll.

Nadia’s musical influences hearken back to the decade of her parents’ youth. She was especially fond of artists and bands who, like her, felt unshackled from conventions and norms. The consistent theme of the artists who influenced her has been their commitment to lyrical depth and naked honesty, including the Canadian master wordsmith – Leonard Cohen.
